Obituary

Funeral services for Steve Duane Ross will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday February 3, 2026, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Brother David Gardner officiating. A time of visitation will be held Monday February 2, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Craddock Funeral Home.

Steve was born on September 26, 1954, in Enid, Oklahoma, to the late Duane Ross and Corine Ross. He graduated from Springer High School in 1972 and remained deeply rooted in the community he called home. He passed away Wednesday January 28, 2026, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 71.

Steve spent his career at the Uniroyal Tire Plant, but his true passions were found outdoors. He was an avid bass fisherman and deer hunter who spent over 40 years tournament fishing alongside his brother, Mark. Steve loved talking fishing with anyone who would listen—always happy to give advice on lures, while carefully guarding his secret fishing spots. His love for the outdoors was something he proudly passed down to his children, making hunters and fishermen out of both. After leaving the tire plant, he owned a fishing tackle store, Gone Fishin,' on Lake Murray Drive, where his passion for the sport was evident to all who stopped by.

Steve was larger than life—known for his flamboyant personality, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor. He was the life of any gathering and never met a stranger. Those who knew him knew he would say just about anything, especially if it earned a laugh. He was famously known as the "number one harasser," particularly of restaurant waitresses if his glass was mistakenly filled with sweet tea. Fridays were reserved for dinner with his mom, a tradition he rarely missed and held close to his heart.

Steve is survived by his mother, Corine Ross, his children, Jeremy Ross and wife Candi of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Stephanie Lee and husband Shawn of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Chelsie Ross, Jordan Ross, Pacen Ross, Miranda Lee, Emily Lee, Blake Lee, Skyler Shikle and Grayson Smith, Harley Stewart and Seth Stewart, Jagger Shikle; and his great-grandchildren, Gage Stewart, Tyber Weiss and Rynlee Jo Stewart. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark Ross and wife Robin of Kingston, Oklahoma, and Shelly Lampkin and husband Hubert, Vicki Peery, all of Ardmore, Oklahoma, along with his aunt, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at AMG Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City for their care and compassion.

Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his stories, laughter, and love for the outdoors will live on through his family and friends.
