Thomas Brandt was born on July 4, 1943, to Fred and Ernestine (Cox) Brandt in Wichita Falls, Texas. He passed from this life on June 13, 2026, at the age of 82.
Tom graduated from Ardmore High School with the Class of 1961. On November 14, 1963, he married Linda Landrum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He earned an associate degree from Murray State College and later received a bachelor's degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
While completing his education, Tom worked for Arbuckle Supply and OG&E. He then began his accounting career with Stromberg Carlson in Ardmore and later in Camden, Arkansas. He eventually joined The Gray Company in Ardmore, where he remained until his retirement.
Tom enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting quail, deer, and pheasant, as well as fishing for crappie and bass and bow fishing for gar. He was also an enthusiastic bowler who taught junior league bowling and participated in numerous leagues and tournaments over the years. Tom enthusiastically gave annual tours of the Dogwood trees on his property and spent many hours on his tractor improving his land, especially clearing cedar trees. He enjoyed woodworking and was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors whenever needed. Tom was known for his strong work ethic and was never afraid of hard work.
Tom accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 10 at K Street Baptist Church. During the last several months of his life, he devoted himself to a project to construct and raise an eighty-foot cross on his property adjacent to Highway 70 east of Ardmore. His family and friends, led by his grandson Jackson Wallace, will complete the project in his honor.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ernestine Brandt; his son, Michael Brandt; and his brother, Robert Brandt.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Brandt; his daughters, Sharon Woodley and husband Mark, and Jill Wallace and husband Sam; his brother, Richard Brandt and wife Kaye; his grandchildren, Angela Yandell and husband Jonathan, Megan Hargis and husband Bryce, Jackson Wallace, and Parker Wallace and wife Logan; and his great-grandchildren, Roman Yandell, Boston Hargis, Eva Yandell, London Hargis, Baker Hargis, Luke Yandell, Banks Hargis, and a baby Wallace expected soon.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Summit Church in Lone Grove (previously Lone Grove Assembly of God) with Pastors Jonathan Yandell and Bryce Hargis officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
