Obituary

Vallene Jewel (Perryman) Rhoads was born on November 20, 1933, in Temple, Oklahoma, and entered eternity with Jesus Christ on December 18, 2024, in Davis, Oklahoma at the age of 91. She was one of 9 children born to Edwin & Carmen Perryman. She attended school and graduated from Randlett High School where she lettered in basketball. On December 24, 1953, Val married the love of her life, Clifford (Bud) Rhoads in Burkburnett, Texas. They raised two daughters, Terri Lynn, and Sharon (Sherri) Kay.

Val accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior as a teenager. As her Christian Walk grew, Val taught GA's, served the WMU, sang in the church choir, worked with the Keenagers group, and volunteered at the First Baptist Church in Ardmore, where she was a member for 48 years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Val worked for the county government for many years and was elected the Carter County Treasurer in 1992. She loved her friends, family, and most importantly, Jesus.

Val is survived by her daughter, Terri Howard and her husband W.R. of Hennepin, Oklahoma; Sherri Brown and her husband Rod of Temple, Texas; grandchildren Cary Howard of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Creede Howard and his wife Keely of Elmore City, Oklahoma, Allison Medrano and her husband Joe of Temple, Texas, Abby Dorcene and her husband Jeff of Temple, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Love of North Richland Hills, Texas, and her brother E.O. Perryman and his wife Pat of Ardmore, Oklahoma; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Val is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford (Bud) Rhoads; parents Edwin and Carmen Perryman; brother Cecil Perryman; sisters Lorado Whitehead, Louise Hawes, Jessie Vronek, Bobbie Laminack, and Sue Martin. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the facilities and staff at The Lodge at Ardmore, Cross Timber Hospice and Buford Manor in Davis for the love and care shown to Val.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 pm Monday, December 23, 2024, at Craddock Memorial Chapel with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma with Creede Howard, Cary Howard, Mike Whitehead, Duane Perryman, Rick Whitehead, and Keith Laminack serving as pallbearers.
