Verlin E.
Lynch
Mar 6, 1937 — Mar 29, 2021
Ardmore
Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, OK. Chaplain Greg Giltner will officiate. Verlin Lynch was an extraordinary man, and was loved by so many. He spent his early years growing up on a farm in Pawnee, OK. When he spoke of the farm, his eyes would light up. He had many great memories of the farm, and his pet goat that ate his dad's car while he was at school. He also loved to tell the story of selling popcorn in a wagon to the movie theater, who sold it for a nickel. So many lessons learned on the farm followed him throughout his life.
Upon his graduation, he was able to travel with a group of friends to California for work. He fondly remembered that trip. The black and white pictures taken along the way are treasures. Verlin served in the Army. While in Germany, he was involved in an accident and was told he may never walk again. But his determination proved those doctors wrong. He worked many years as a mail carrier for the US postal service and later retired.
No obstacle was ever too big for him to conquer. The most remarkable part though is that everything he did, he did with a smile and a huge love for others. He never sought the limelight. He lifted others up. He caught us when we fell, and made us all feel like we were the great ones, when it was really him the whole time. He lived a long life serving his family making us laugh, teaching us patience and kindness, and being a good husband, father, Papa and friend. We spent a lot of time with him at the table at the lake playing cards and our favorite phrase of his was "A card laid is a card played." Verlin was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy (Grote) Lynch and Earl Lynch; wife, Melba Lynch; brother, Virgil Lynch at the age of 10; his faithful dog Lucky.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Lynch of the home; sons, Kevin Lynch and wife, Shawna of Moore, OK, Jeff Lynch and wife, Misty of Edmond, OK, and Mark McCaleb and wife, Lori of Tuttle, OK; daughters, Dana McCaleb of Ardmore, OK, Jennifer Tillison and husband, Clint of Ardmore, OK; grandchildren, Chase, Kaegan, Brayden and Raycer McCaleb, Camron Cosby, Easton Skaggs, Madison, Cooper and Emory Glavan, Jack and Tucker Tillison, Averie Wherry, Kaitlin Cordero and husband, Cleto, Kenzie Ellis and husband, Jeff, Conor Butts and wife, Erika, Kyle Lynch, Sara Lynch, Daniel Lynch, Taylor Gilbert, Breanna Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Ava, Liam, Piper and Willow Ellis.
