Funeral services for Verna G. Meek will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday February 28, 2024, at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Lone Grove with Reverend David Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma with Stephen Meek, Nathan Meek, Travis Meek, Nicholas Green, Heath Green, Jerry Meek, and David Green serving as pallbearers.

Verna was born Wednesday September 9, 1942, in Stobtown, Oklahoma to Vester "Red" and Hazel Novella (Howell) Nichols and died Sunday February 25, 2024, in Ardmore at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 16 days.

Verna loved music and spent many years working as a clerk at Montgomery Wards. She married the love of her life and best friend, Roger Meek on March 1, 1959, in Gainesville, Texas and enjoyed 45 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on July 26, 2004. She attended church at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger Meek and a sister, Shirley Maxine Stoker.

Verna is survived by her son Jerry Meek and his wife, Dewayna of Brock, Oklahoma; daughter, Renita Green and her husband David of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; brothers, Fred Nichols and his wife Darlene of Nebo, Oklahoma, Ted Nichols of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Heath Green and his wife Lesli, Nicholas Green, Travis Meek, Nathan Meek and Stephen Meek.
