Wanda DuBiel Otey Westheimer (6-13-24 to 10-24-25) was the daughter of Polish immigrants Josephine Olzacka and John Joseph DuBiel.   As a first generation American, with her unique physical beauty and her own sense of style,  she totally exemplified the great American Spirit.  There wasn't a challenge that she did not meet head on. She was a gifted pianist and organist with a keen sense of humor who embraced life with vigor and a "just do it" philosophy.  She married George N. Otey, Jr. and joked that her four children were all born in Mile-High cities while they participated in the oil industry in the western part of the United States.  Their love of Oklahoma brought them back to Ardmore where they resided until George passed away in 1966.

Her marriage brought her great joy in the embodiment of her four children, George N. Otey, III (Cathy), Josephine Otey Jackson (Richard), Millie Otey (Sam P. Daniel, III) and John DuBiel Otey (Jeannie). She was delighted and proud of each of their personal and professional accomplishments.  The pride extended to each of her grandchildren.

In her early student days at the University of Oklahoma, along with George and her beloved brother, John K. DuBiel, she became an ardent supporter of OU.  While at OU, she developed a belief that everyone should have exposure to the Arts and demonstrated that belief, later in life, by making important art gifts to OU and various art institutions.

Her talents did not go un-noticed when she began designing for Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in the late 60's, a decade she loved because of the creativity and music that was influential across the globe.  She traveled extensively through Europe and often visited her long-time friends in the California wine country.  She enjoyed good books and her time spent with The Ladies of the Leaf Club and her investments club.

She married Jerome Westheimer on New Year's Day in 1998, and they leapt into a life of travel, theater and art patronage. The patronage can be seen on the OU campus and in the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.  They endowed a teaching chair at OU College of Art that provides for an artist in residence to share experiences and bring art concepts to the students.  They enjoyed it all, together, until his death in 2005.

Always one to volunteer, in addition to having chaired the United Way Fund, her volunteerism continued well into her eightieth decade, she continued to serve on the Governor's Arts Council and the Board of Directors of the Fred Jones Art Museum in Norman, Oklahoma and other institutions, including the art Gallery at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

She is survived by her four children, grandchildren Hilary Otey (Kayla Bartha), Hannah Otey (Curtis Combs), Lydia Otey, Anne Daniel Hawley (Yates) and Field Daniel, and Wanda Odessa Otey and great grandchildren, August Otey Wold, Alexander Otey Wold, Casimir Otey Wold, Phil Hawley and Mary Margaret Hawley, and numerous nieces and nephews, including John K. DuBiel, Jr.

Her family wishes to thank all the care givers and providers that gave her loving care and support during her final days.
