Wondo Mitchell, III

Funeral Services for Wondo Mitchell, III will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. A night visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Wondo was born on July 10, 1960 to Wondo Mitchell, Jr. and Anita Sue Balthrop in Ardmore, OK. He departed this life at 58 years old on March 30, 2019 at his home Ardmore, OK.

He graduated Plainview High School in 1978 and attended Southern Oklahoma Technology Center for three years during high school. He took the construction class and after he graduated he began working for Garmon Holt Construction Company. During this time he met Rita Perryman and they married on February 9, 1980. Wondo continued working in construction and decided to begin his own business. Wondo and Rita had two daughters, Ashley Rae and Lauren Renae.

Wondo's business continued to flourish in the Ardmore community. He was known for donating his time and talent to anyone in need. He enjoyed building projects for his family and friends. One of his greatest accomplishments was building a home for his family. He had built strong relationships with the community. He was a hard worker, raised cattle, chickens, geese, turkey's, guineas, dogs and barn cats. He loved his family and friends.

Wondo was a loyal supporter of Plainview Schools who attended many games with his grandkids. He enjoyed sports and was an avid basketball and football player but, he loved teaching basketball and softball for his girls. He looked forward to spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed cooking and hosting family events at his home and attending the Super Bowl parties.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Sue (Balthrop) Mitchell and father, Wondo Mitchell, Jr., sister, Wanda Sue Smith and brother, Randy Lyn Mitchell.

Wondo is survived by his wife, Rita Mitchell of the home: daughters, Ashley Rae and Peter of Ardmore, OK and Lauren Renae Wolf and her husband, Klent of Ardmore, OK: grandchildren, Ashlynn Hogan, Cole Hogan, Garrett Nichols, McKinley Smith and Sophia Mitchell: and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Duane Perryman, Mark Pittman, Robert Wright, Ron Crosby, Warren Herriott, Greg Kidd, Patrick McGuire and Mike Mordy.  Honorary pallbearers will be William Crosby, Danny Blanton, Vaughn Tyler, Jimmy Wright, Keith Williams, James Holley, Jim Hill and Bud Webb.
