About Us

Craddock Funeral Home was established as Bettes Funeral Home in 1923 by Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Bettes. The Bettes family moved to Ardmore from Texas to build the first funeral home built for that purpose. Most funeral homes in that day were converted family homes.

We were proud of our historical building, but it was no longer large enough to accommodate our families. So, in 2007 we constructed our new facility located at 525 S. Commerce Street. It features its own florist "The Lily", gift shop, and a dining area for receptions.

Newman Craddock, Sr., also known as "Hoot", a native Ardmoreite and graduate of Kansas City Mortuary College, bought stock in Bettes Funeral Home in 1946 and became a partner with the Bettes family. In 1961, Newman's son, A. N. "Sonny" Craddock, Jr., a graduate of Gupton Jones Mortuary College bought stock from the Bettes family. In 1978, Newman and Sonny bought all remaining interest in the business. Also in 1978 Sonny's wife, Barbara, a licensed funeral director joined the firm.

The third generation of Craddocks joined the firm in 1981 when Chris Craddock graduated from Central State Mortuary College and returned home to work with his grandfather and father in the family business.

Having three generations and many years invested in the funeral business in the Ardmore area, convinced the Craddock family to change the name in 1984 to Craddock Funeral Home.

In 2013, Chris's son Kyle graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Funeral Service and joined his family's firm, establishing four generations of funeral service.

It is with pride, and a recognized privilege that our family and staff continues to serve our friends and neighbors.
